PRENSILIA

Industrial Design
Prensilia is a high-tech company spun out from Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna, Pisa in 2009. Prensilia designs, customizes and manufactures advanced anthropomorphic under-actuated robotic hands endowed with embedded actuation, sensory and control systems, that can be exploited in research as advanced hand prostheses, end effectors for humanoid robots, for rehabilitation and/or neuroscientific experiments; in general, in all research fields where it is important to have an artificial hand that behaves as a natural one.
In 2012 Prensilia relies on D’Arc.Studio for the restyling of the external shell of the IH2 AZZURRA: the project is based on the merging of human hand ergonomic shapes with futuristic hi-tech profiles as those of robotics.
The curvy lines of the design don’t simulate anthropomorphic shapes, but enhance the extremely advanced technology.
The mock-up is achieved with HD-3D printing.
